Joseph Harrison "Joe" Bickford was born in Dayton, Tennessee, to James Ernest and Martha Edith Bickford.

His parents and younger sister Kaye were always very dear to his heart.

He worked as a medical technologist and always loved his work, whether it was at Vanderbilt University Lab or Response Oncology.

Joe had a profound faith in God who gave him strength and was a life long member of the Church of Christ.

Despite adversities in his life, he faced them with tremendous courage and lived a long and useful life with his own family.

Joe was a very kind and compassionate human being with a genuine interest to help others and to do good.

He loved to travel but his favorite place was his native state of Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains.

We will remember Joe for his optimism, good sense of humor, and tender heart before a terrible illness took all away from him.

We will always miss him.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with the Celebration of Life Service to be conducted at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
